So I smiled, and I was happy, and it got worse.
If you thought nobody could trump Trump in stupidity, here comes Chris Christie, the whale from New Jersey. According to the NY Times:
Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey said on Saturday that if he were elected president he would combat illegal immigration by creating a system to track foreign visitors the way FedEx tracks packages.
“At any moment, FedEx can tell you where that package is. It’s on the truck. It’s at the station. It’s on the airplane”, Mr. Christie told the crowd in Laconia, N.H. “Yet we let people come to this country with visas, and the minute they come in, we lose track of them.”
He added: “We need to have a system that tracks you from the moment you come in.”
First of all, he has no clue, what he is talking about. FedEx – and others – do not know where a package is at any time. They only know, when a package – with a bar code on it – has passed a reading device.
Secondly, FedEx and others have installed millions of bar code reading devices. How many billions of those does Mr. Christie want to install in the USA, to track people with visas?
Thirdly, packages are not people. People happen to move by themselves, packages are moved. Also, people can remove things, like a bar code label. Packages are not known to have developed that capability yet.
But most importantly, Mr. Christie is in desperate need of some history lessons. The last people to be labeled with a number, where the inmates in Nazi concentration camps. What a great lead to follow, Mr. Christie. If you could move your whale like body to NYC, you could meet a few people with tattooed numbers on their arms.
Our Idiot of the Day Medal goes to the disgrace from New Jersey:
