Glynsky

we wish you a merry christmas…

Dear anyone there,

Thank you for reading us, laughing with us, putting up with a certain person’s paranoia and, well, just joining in.

I very much apologise that as for the first time EVER I shan’t be at home over Christmas my postings over the coming week will be minimal.

Woteva, I and all at G+P wish everyone, every where a VERY

xmas

with Good Cheer and Good Friends – even if you have been unfortunate enough to have been selected as a candidate to share three days with Engine Room’s extended family.

Carrrramba – I thought public torture had been outlawed.

Yours, diablog, in the spirit

lookin’ good…

Dear diablog,

For reasons best known to themselves both Engine Room and Bro. Smiles have challenged me to select an avatar for our commenter Inverness Druid.

I am a little puzzled as to why because I had thought that the selection was usually chosen by the user.

However, initially I was using

as it appeared that he was on the phone to the said Bro. Smiles, but alternatives could include…

Another tribute

Dear Reader,

As Glynsky wrote his tribute here, this is mine.

Since I did not meet the man, this is forĀ  Smiles and The Inverness Druid:

Mogwai – Auto Rock

Mogwai is a Scottish Post Rock band. The song Auto Rock has been used in Top Gear, featured in the build-up to the Formula 1 Silverstone Grand Prix, in the trailer for the film The Brave One, and at the end of the 2006 film Miami Vice. The central piano riff is a citation of Crockett’s Theme that Jan Hammer wrote in 1984 for the original Miami Vice series.

A good tune to say good bye,

Engine Room

an inadequate tribute…

Dear diablog,

We are sorry to have to record the passing of the father to both of our regular comment posters Smiles and Inverness Druid this morning, Saturday.

He was, to Glynsky, always kind and ready to laugh. I regret that I have not seen him for years but will always remember him – sadly not knowing his christian name.

A true diamond of his type, Diablog extends sincere condolences to them both together with Mum and the rest of the family.

getting hammered…

Dear diablog,

My time over the past few weeks and probably for the coming 2 or 3 seems to be getting under more and more pressure. Why? Just too much on and too much to arrange.

One of the things that took several days was the, to become annual, Glynsky

croquet

Party. What a corker that proved to be. The first decent day of sun for weeks and a collection of enthusiastic players

croquet1

keen to learn and demonstrate their prowess at the finer subtleties of the game

croquet2

in keeping with the ‘official’ rules.

I have been given a wonderful set

longworth-in-a-toolkit-bag-

and maybe, just maybe, we may instigate a G+P Croquet Tournament at the start of summer next year – providing, that is, that unlike this year there is one!

Yours, diablog, mallet at the ready

bridge over troubled water…

Dear diablog,

I had mentioned a while back that Pete still lives – and here’s the proof that he is still the irascible ol’ Pete as there always was!

In his idyllic garden he has some captives

amongst the acres of boring landfill

which he decided needed reorganisation. Thus aided by two young workers shipped in for the day

whom he willingly offered to pay using items rescued from earlier civilisations .
